Adult Services
Inpatient Program for Adults
Many adults suffer from a behavioral health disorder or co-occurring disorders that damages their relationships and duties at home and work. For people with these challenges, their condition may become so severe that they may benefit from intensive, 24-hour care at a behavioral health facility.
Clive Behavioral Health in Des Moines, Iowa, offers a compassionate inpatient program to help adults with a behavioral health disorder or co-occurring disorders. The program is designed to help them achieve mental stability or long-term stability. Additionally, we offer dual diagnosis treatment for individuals who suffer from co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorder issues.
Patients receive a clinical evaluation at admission. This allows our care providers to help the patient create a personal treatment plan that targets their needs and goals.
Program Highlights
- Treatment for acute behavioral health disorders and co-occurring disorders
- Recovery-oriented approach with an emphasis on support systems, strengths and community connections
- Individual and group therapy
- Individualized treatment plan and goals
- Numerous recreational spaces including a gymnasium, basketball court, exercise equipment, art and music therapy, and access to an enclosed outside courtyard
- Discharge plans for continued progress after leaving the hospital
Outpatient Program for Adults
First Step Recovery Treatment – Intensive Outpatient Services
Clive Behavioral Health’s First Step Recovery Treatment outpatient program provides treatment for adult patients with both chemical dependency and emotional issues or recurring disorders.
This voluntary program helps those struggling adults wanting to seek treatment. Our sole purpose is to help you improve your quality of life and regain your highest level of functioning in your relationships, your community and your employment.
The “First Step”
The journey to recovery begins with a comprehensive assessment to determine the level of care needed for each patient. Walk-ins are welcome as well as provider referrals. We offer same-day appointments for assessment and evaluation. Online assessment scheduling is also available. Please call 515-553-6200 if you’d like to speak with someone to learn more.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for Adults (18+)
Partial hospitalization is a highly structured, short-term day program for adults who would benefit from an intensive outpatient program. The program is designed to help prevent hospitalization or to facilitate the transition from the hospital back into the community.
The program is Monday through Friday, for four hours each day. There is a morning session (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and an afternoon session (12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.). A typical participant will attend for approximately four weeks. Our program helps individuals identify negative core beliefs and maladaptive behaviors. Patients are introduced to a mindfulness-based, non-judgmental mindset designed to relieve acute symptoms and increase resiliency. Licensed clinicians and a psychiatric nurse practitioner coordinate care and meet with each patient both in groups and individually.
Evening Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Clive Behavioral Health’s evening Adult Intensive Outpatient Program is held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., lasting approximately four weeks. This group program provides similar programming and curriculum as our PHP program but is only three-days per week for three-hours each day. It is geared as a step-down program as a transition away from PHP or as an alternative evening offering for those who have work commitments during the day.
Participants have access to:
- Licensed mental health therapists
- Certified addiction counselors
- Board-certified psychiatrist
- Medication management
- Medication assisted treatment
- Group therapy
- Education
